HOUSEOFJOY – The Band Without Blessings, Nobody’s Waiting for Them to Go First

Image
HOUSEOFJOY  - The Band Without Blessings, Nobody’s Waiting for Them to Go First Ever heard a song from an indie band that feels like your own life? Lyrics that cut deep not overdramatic, just real. A melody that’s not just catchy but hits you in the chest. Production that’s not rushed, but layered with soul and breath in every sound. And yet somehow… the song feels like it was born just to be ignored. No one shares it. It doesn’t land on playlists. It never shows up on those “advanced” TikTok algorithms. But behind that song, there’s blood. There’s a story. Sometimes even a life that was nearly lost to the pressure. And this isn’t fiction. This is a true story. It’s the story of an Indonesian band called HOUSEOFJOY and a man named Dymaz Redric , who chose to live with his music, rather than die slowly being consumed by the system. From a Circle of 20 to Deafening Silence HOUSEOFJOY didn’t start as a small band. They once had a big circle: friends to hang out with, a...

Why Being Young Feels So Exhausting

Why Being Young Feels So Exhausting (And Why Music Is the Only Safe Escape Left) If you're in your 20s right now and life feels like a pressure-filled simulation, you’re not alone. Most of us grew up thinking our twenties would be the peak of our lives. But the reality? We’re learning to survive. Learning to accept failure. And slowly learning to forgive ourselves. In a world that’s only getting tougher and faster, music has become the last safe space left. 1. Your 20s: Where Social and Mental Pressure Hit All at Once We're expected to: Already be successful Already be financially stable Have a solid five-year life plan Meanwhile, a lot of us just finished college or never had the chance because we had to work young. Then there’s Instagram, where everyone else seems like they’ve already made it. And us? Still paying off dreams in installments while pretending we’re fine every day. 2. Music: A Safe Space That Doesn’t Ask “When Are You Getting Married...

Kenapa Hidup Sebagai Anak Muda Sekarang Bikin Capek Banget

Belum lagi liat Instagram orang, seakan semua orang lain udah sampai garis finish. Sementara kita? Masih nyicil mimpi sambil pura-pura kuat tiap hari. 2. Musik: Tempat Aman yang Nggak Nanya “Kapan Nika...

Why Most Indie Bands Fail (And Why You Should Listen to HOUSEOFJOY Today)

Image
Why Most Indie Bands Fail (And Why You Should Listen to HOUSEOFJOY Today) Behind every viral song, there are thousands that never get heard. Behind every flashy stage, there are small bands crawling, falling, and disappearing. This isn’t a romanticized story about struggle. It’s a harsh truth: most indie bands fail, not because they lack talent, but because the system is built to crush those who go against it. 1. Dreams Killed by Reality Many bands start with passion: jamming with friends, sharing big dreams, fueled by acoustic guitars and cigarette smoke. But how many survive when it’s time to record on their own, mix alone, promote without help, and do everything by themselves? The music industry doesn’t favor the self-made. If you’re not from a talent show or signed to a label, you’re swimming against the tide. 2. The Industry Runs on Gatekeepers and Paywalls We’ve seen it firsthand. Brilliant musicians are left out of playlists and articles because they lack connections. Some write...

Kenapa Banyak Band Indie Gagal di Tengah Jalan

Image
2. Industri Musik Itu Penuh Orang Dalam dan Media Bayaran Kami sudah melihatnya sendiri. Banyak musisi hebat tak pernah masuk media, tak pernah masuk playlist karena mereka tak punya kone...

The Struggle of an Indie Band Without a Label: The Story of HOUSEOFJOY

Image
The Struggle of an Indie Band Without a Label: The Story of HOUSEOFJOY Many assume that being in a band is all about glamour: bright lights, loud music, cheering crowds, and an easy life. But our journey began quite the opposite. HOUSEOFJOY was born in a cramped, sweltering room our vocalist Dymaz Redric ’s bedroom. It wasn't a studio, not even close. Yet, that's where all our songs came to life from scratch. Imagine this: drums, sound monitors, amplifiers, guitars, microphones, cables, hard cases, even stage equipment all crammed into that tiny room. We practiced and recorded there. Preparing for gigs meant hauling equipment from Dymaz's house; his place had everything we needed. While the gear wasn't top-of-the-line, it was sufficient for rehearsals and recordings. We improvised everything—from recording techniques to emergency stage setups. Forgot a guitar strap? Iyan's belt became the substitute. Rizky's snare drum got wet? We dried it with a defogger....
